A targeted brightening treatment formulated to reduce hyperpigmentation and even skin tone. Every active works on a specific part of the dark spot cycle โ from blocking melanin production to protecting against the oxidative stress that causes new spots to form.
Kojic Acid
1% Concentration ยท Hero ActiveDerived from natural fungal fermentation, Kojic Acid inhibits tyrosinase โ the enzyme responsible for melanin production. At 1% it fades existing dark spots while preventing new pigmentation from forming, without disrupting the skin barrier.
The science: Tyrosinase inhibition is the most clinically validated mechanism for treating hyperpigmentation. Studies show measurable reduction in melanin index at 0.75โ1% concentrations over 12 weeks.
Vitamin C
Antioxidant ยท Brightening SupportWorks alongside Kojic Acid to inhibit melanin synthesis through a complementary pathway. Also stimulates collagen production, improving overall skin radiance and texture while neutralising free radicals.
The science: L-Ascorbic Acid has dual action โ direct antioxidant protection and melanogenesis inhibition via DOPA oxidation blockade. Particularly effective when combined with other brightening actives.
Vitamin E
Tocopherol ยท Antioxidant ShieldWorks synergistically with Vitamin C to provide superior antioxidant protection. Stabilises the formula, extends the efficacy of Vitamin C, and provides photoprotective and anti-inflammatory benefits.
The science: The Vitamin C + E combination provides 4x the antioxidant protection of either vitamin alone. Tocopherol also reduces UV-induced pigmentation in deeper skin tones.
Sea Buckthorn Oil
Hippophae Rhamnoides ยท RegenerationOne of the most nutrient-dense plant oils available โ rich in omega-7, carotenoids, and vitamins A, C, and E. Supports skin cell regeneration, reduces inflammation, and contributes a natural brightening effect.
The science: Among the few plant sources of Omega-7 (palmitoleic acid), which supports epithelial cell repair and has shown anti-inflammatory activity in dermatological studies.
Rosemary Extract
Rosmarinus Officinalis ยท AntioxidantA natural antioxidant protecting both skin and formula from oxidative degradation. Provides mild anti-inflammatory properties that calm reactive or post-inflammatory skin โ a common concern alongside hyperpigmentation.
The science: Rosmarinic acid demonstrates free radical scavenging activity comparable to synthetic antioxidants, with anti-inflammatory effects through cyclooxygenase inhibition.
Sodium PCA + Betaine
Natural Moisturising FactorsSodium PCA is one of the skin's own natural moisturising factors โ it draws water in and holds it. Betaine, derived from sugar beets, provides additional hydration while protecting the skin from osmotic stress.
The science: Sodium PCA occurs naturally in skin with superior hygroscopic properties to glycerin. Betaine acts as an osmoprotectant, reducing cellular stress from dehydration and environmental exposure.

Lipid Complex ยท Barrier SupportJojoba is structurally similar to skin's own sebum โ exceptionally well tolerated and non-comedogenic. Avocado Oil is rich in oleic acid and sterols that penetrate deeply and support elasticity. Together they nourish without heaviness.
The science: Jojoba is technically a liquid wax whose ester structure mimics sebum at a molecular level, integrating seamlessly into the skin's lipid barrier without disrupting its function.
Aloe Vera Juice

What we never put in our formulas
Serata is built for melanin-rich skin. Certain ingredients common in mass-market skincare are non-negotiable exclusions โ not because they are banned, but because they are not appropriate for our customer.
